MSc. In (XXX) for me
Dear Sir/ Madam,
I would like to state my interest in_________.
In our day-to-day life, we are exposed to numerous problems, where we have to use our cognitive skills to reach a solution. Be it personal or professional life, we are faced with many question marks so; the decision needs to be made accordingly. It is to be noted that most problems globally are not psychological or physical, instead these are financial. Finances need to be managed properly, for individuals, companies, governments, and other entities.
In selecting a career, I have always been told to figure out what I like to do and then make a career out of it. While studying for my O and A Levels, I came to the realization that my interests lays in business related subjects, which itself encapsulates many subjects ranging from accountancy to entrepreneurship. Initially, I developed interest in accountancy, and while I was studying for my undergraduate degree and ACCA examinations, I came across a course on Financial Management. The course extensively covered areas of corporate finance decision making, investments, debt and capital markets, after studying which I developed a keen interest in Finance. My interest in finance was rewarded, when I was declared a place-winner, i.e. the highest country-wide scorer, in the subject in Pakistan. It was then clear that, in pursuance of that interest, my destination was to get myself a career in the field of Finance.
While working as a Manager with Hashwani Hotels Limited, the operator of 9 5-star hotels in Pakistan including two under franchise from Marriott International, for the past two years, I have developed a solid foundation in teamwork, analytical and problem solving skills. As a member of the team, I was able to contribute to the group in several ways including, but not limited to, managing for completion of multiple assignments with short turnaround times, collecting and calculating data/statistics, maintaining financial statements, preparing financial forecasts and related information for management decision-making. The insight I gathered during my job identified the significant role finance plays in the daily operations of a business and propelled my desire to pursue a career within finance on a corporate scale.
At this stage, I have set multiple goals. To earn the CFA Charter, to get a master’s degree and to land in a suitable job at a reputable financial institution. In quest of my first goal, I have started studying for CFA and have subsequently cleared levels 1 & 2. CFA for me is not only a professional certificate but also a great challenge, which requires me to integrate substantial knowledge of different subjects. While CFA gives me a comprehensive insight to finance knowledge, a master’s degree can strengthen my analytical ability and enable me to use research tools. Both these accomplishments will boost my competency and would assist in achieving the final goal.
By completing MSc in Finance, I will gain exposure to both theories and practices in the world’s financial centers. I will attain a deeper understanding of management concepts and be able to apply those concepts to real life situations on the job, because of the extensive knowledge of the financial world University of ULM will provide me to excel among my peers and eventually climb up the corporate ladder.
I strongly feel that, an effective finance professional in the 21st century must be well-versed with the international markets. Unfortunately, my desire to gain this broader understanding of the increasing interdependent global economies remains unsatisfied at the current position and a Masters from a prestigious university, like ULM, can certainly satisfy my desires.
Is MSc is the right choice for me? Sometimes I ask myself that do I stand where I want to be in my career and life. And what would it take to get the best combination for professional life and work. I always get the same answer that a Master’s degree in Finance will help me achieve my goals and furnish my career by providing me the tools to compete with today’s growing market. That extra step, which will polish my skills and abilities to manage finances and make efficient financial decisions in ever-changing environment, is undoubtedly doing a master’s program in finance from the financial hub of Europe, Germany.
Considering my ambition and background in Finance, I am confident that I can match your expectations. I believe that my knowledge and experience in Accounting and Finance in a developing economy will certainly bring diversity and a different point of view to your class.
Thank you for considering my application, and I now look forward to the privilege of receiving your valued understanding and acceptance.
