Letter of Intent Sample – 49 for MS

Selecting Electronics and Communication as my undergraduate major was like a dream come true. In a country like India very few people get the opportunity to select their desired major. I was greatly influenced by my father who encouraged creativity to the maximum extent possible. He being a highly qualified pharmacist worked in big pharmaceutical manufacturing unit. My curiosity aroused when I saw huge electronic control systems at my father’s workplace.

It was a blessing in disguise for me that my father was unable to explain to me the working procedures of any such electronic systems. My zeal was insatiable and the desire to study the ‘know how’ such mechanisms became deeply engraved in me.

Throughout my schooling this fire was kept alive, thanks to my teachers, who in their own style and in there own level tried to answer my incessant questions.

By the time I was 17, I had made up my mind to try hard and secure a seat in my choiced major in engineering. The entry into engineering was and upheaval task and I had to face KCET (A highly competitive national level entrance examination) wherein the only the top 4 to 5% of the 300 thousand and odd students get through and are selected into various engineering disciplines. I not only managed to get through but also was in a position to choose a major of my choice, in one of the best institutions in south India.

As a natural consequence, I choose Electronics and Communications.

During the last three years I was a private tutor for the high school students to whom I taught basic sciences. I am also proud to be associated to the community service exercise in which I participated during my free time and taught the underprivileged kids basic English and Mathematics. The whole experience not only polished my interpersonal skills but also provided me the right kind of perspective towards life. My part-time tutorship provided me not only a chance to involve in seminar and discussions related to my major but also covered a part of my undergraduate expenses.

The undergraduate program offered training in basic sciences, engineering mathematics and computer programming. Apart from these, I had a wide exposure to Electronics and Communication subjects such as Electronics circuits, Electronic device and component technology, microprocessor, analog Communication, digital Communication, digital signal processing (DSP), very large scale integration (VLSI), CCN etc,. I also had the opportunity to complete courses like UNIX, C, C++, ORACLE etc., in the form of part time course works.

The field of computer Communication networks (CCN) and digital signal processing particularly interested me with their relevance to the new found technology of the current world. They provide me the opportunity for right kind of growth and research opening that could be of right help to the new technology upswing.

I would like to pursue my future career in these chosen subjects at your esteemed institution, which I feel would be a default consequence of my pursuits. I would like to do my graduate course at an established university, complete it with all amenities and which has been a yardstick for excellence like yours. In this regard, I had a very good feedback from my academic counselors and seniors.

In return I assure the university will find me a keen student, who would contribute to the excellent track record of your university. My admission to your university will provide me towards my career objectives. I am confident that with my solid undergraduate work and willingness to pursue new admissions and research, I can perform to my best and meet the high standards set by your university. I request you kindly to consider me for any form of financial assistance, as it would be of great help to me.

I am positive and really looking forward for an exciting stay at your university.
